Privacy policy

This is the personal website of Ashutosh Jha, an individual based in Noida, India. It is not a company and it sells nothing. This policy explains, in plain terms, what happens to data when you visit — and it is short because very little happens.

The short version

• No cookies are set by this site. None.
• Nothing measures you unless you say yes to the banner. Declining is not a preference that gets ignored — the analytics script is never loaded.
• The contact form does not send anything to this site. It opens a message in your own mail app, which you send yourself.
• Nothing here is sold, shared or used for advertising.

What gets collected

Just visiting

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like every web host, Vercel receives the technical details required to deliver a page — your IP address, browser user-agent, the page requested and the time — and keeps them briefly in server logs for delivery, security and abuse prevention. I do not have access to raw logs tied to you, and I do not try to identify visitors.

Analytics, only with your consent

If you allow it, the site loads Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. Both are cookieless: they record an anonymous page view with the page path, the referring site, approximate country, and device and browser type, plus page-load timings. They do not build a profile, follow you across sites, or store anything on your device. If you decline, or never answer, neither script is loaded at all.

The contact form

What you type never reaches this website. The form checks that the message is complete, then hands it to your own email program with the text already filled in — you press send, from your own account, exactly as if you had written to me yourself. There is no form endpoint, no database, and no email service in between.

Once your message arrives it sits in my inbox like any other email. Your address is used to reply and for nothing else: no newsletter, no list, no third party. I keep the thread until the conversation is over and there is no reason to keep it. You can always skip the form and write to ashutosh.jha.cs@gmail.com.

What is stored in your browser

Exactly one thing: your answer to the analytics banner, saved in your browser’s local storage under the key aj:analytics-consent so you are not asked on every page. It never leaves your device, and clearing your site data removes it — after which you will be asked again.

Who else is involved

• Vercel — hosting, and the optional analytics described above. This is the only company that processes anything on my behalf.
• cal.com — only if you open the booking link. Anything you enter there is handled under cal.com’s own privacy policy, not this one.
• Links out to GitHub, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, Medium and Google Drive. Once you follow one, you are on their site under their terms.

Web fonts are self-hosted and served from this domain, so visiting the site makes no request to Google Fonts or any other font service.

Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask me for a summary of any personal data of yours I hold, ask me to correct or complete it, ask me to erase it, or withdraw a consent you previously gave. In practice the only personal data I hold is whatever you sent me through the form or by email.

To exercise any of these, or to raise a grievance, write to ashutosh.jha.cs@gmail.com — that address reaches me directly, and I act as my own grievance officer for this site. I will respond as quickly as I reasonably can, and within any period the law requires.

Analytics consent you can withdraw yourself at any time, using the control above or by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. It takes no payments, has no accounts and stores no passwords, so there is no login to breach. That said, no transmission over the internet is ever perfectly secure — please do not send anything confidential through a contact form, here or anywhere else.

Children

This site is a professional portfolio. It is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. There is no mailing list to notify, so the date is the honest record.
